Amphitrite

Amphitrite was alone due to matters of shipping-
perhaps a war or an off-season storm,
when another god came and gave her a spray,
and left her aglow on a warm, sandy shore.

Poseidon was enraged, and he made the world shake.
He would find that that other god and let him have it.
But Amphitrite said 'No! I told you not to go! '
but deep inside she wished he'd make it a habit.

But he never did, and stayed by her side,
as the Aegean was tossed to and fro,
then soon settled down with passion unwound
until Eros returned with his bow.
